ANSAM condemns killing of six Naga civilians, accuses State and Centre of inaction

The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has strongly condemned the killing of six Naga civilians and questioned the response and sincerity of both the Government of Manipur and the Government of India in addressing the incident.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, June 15, ANSAM president Th. Anteshang Maring said that more than 30 days have passed since the abduction and subsequent killing of six Naga civilians, alleging that the victims were abducted and later killed in a brutal manner by suspected Kuki armed militants identified as KNA(P).

Maring questioned the pace and effectiveness of the government’s response, stating that no individual had been publicly identified or brought to justice in connection with the case despite the passage of more than a month.

He said the bodies of the six victims continue to remain in the mortuary and described the incident as deeply distressing for the affected families and communities.

According to ANSAM, family members of the victims had reportedly submitted a list of individuals allegedly involved in the abduction. However, the organisation alleged that neither the state government nor the central government had taken visible action against those suspected in connection with the incident.

During the press conference, Maring also questioned the government’s decision to bring three injured Kuki individuals, whom the organisation described as armed militants injured during a firing incident at Lailon Vaiphei, to Imphal for treatment.

Calling for immediate and sincere intervention, ANSAM urged both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take concrete steps to ensure accountability and justice in the case. The organisation warned that it would intensify its response if adequate action is not taken.
