Assam Rifles boosts Kuki Inpi’s digital infrastructure under Operation Sadbhavana
The Assam Rifles has strengthened its outreach to Manipur’s tribal communities by donating essential study and office equipment to the Kuki Inpi, the apex body representing the Kuki tribes, under its civic initiative Operation Sadbhavana.
At a ceremony held at the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Office in Kangpokpi District Headquarters, the force handed over a computer set, multifunction printer, inverter with backup battery, and ergonomic furniture to support the organisation’s administrative and educational activities. The initiative aims to enhance documentation, coordination, and digital capacity across Kuki areas.
Brigadier Ananya Boral, Deputy Inspector General of the 9 Sector Assam Rifles, and Colonel Radha Krishan, Commandant of the 33rd Battalion, led the delegation. They were received by leaders of Kuki civil society organisations with traditional shawls, symbolising mutual respect and cooperation.
Speaking at the event, Brigadier Boral said Operation Sadbhavana reflects the Assam Rifles’ commitment to partnership and empowerment in the region.
“Assam Rifles stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Manipur — not just as protectors of peace, but as partners in progress,” he said. “These donations are investments in empowerment, education, and self-reliance for our tribal brothers and sisters.”
Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills Speaker Thanglensei Kipgen expressed gratitude to the force, describing the effort as “a bridge between security and social welfare.” The ceremony also included a prayer led by Vice President Thangmang Chongloi and a welcome song performed by Chiching, adding a cultural touch to the proceedings.
Representatives from the Kuki Women Union, Kuki Students’ Organisation, and students from Elite Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi, attended the event. A formal handover followed, with Brigadier Boral presenting a certificate to Speaker Kipgen in the presence of community leaders.
Launched in 1997, Operation Sadbhavana serves as the Indian Army’s flagship outreach programme in remote and conflict-affected areas. Through education, healthcare, and infrastructure support, the Assam Rifles continues to promote stability and development across the North East.
