The Assam Rifles organised a Special Band Performance at the Western Gate of Kangla on Tuesday evening to commemorate India’s 79th Independence Day and celebrate the recent success of Operation Sindoor.

The performances will continue on August 13 and 15 from 6:30 PM, offering the public an opportunity to witness traditional military music in a historic setting.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), said the resounding victory in Operation Sindoor stands as a testament to the Indian Army’s bravery and readiness to counter any threat to the nation’s security. “This event honours the sacrifice of the forces and showcases our rich tradition of martial music,” he added.

The IGAR(S) also lauded Manipur for its significant representation in the country’s armed forces, acknowledging the state’s strong contribution to national defence.

Calling on citizens to be part of the tribute, Maj. Gen. Singh urged, “We invite the people of the state to witness the special band performance as a mark of respect to our brave brothers who contributed to Operation Sindoor.”
