BJP legislator sees Delhi meeting as key step towards peace in Manipur
BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh on December 15 said the recent meeting of party legislators with central leaders in New Delhi could mark an important turning point for peace and stability in Manipur.
Speaking to reporters after returning to Imphal, the Heirok Assembly Constituency legislator described the meeting as a positive and necessary step, stressing that meaningful progress had begun. He said such an initiative was vital at a time when the state was going through prolonged unrest.
Radheshyam, who attended the meeting along with several other BJP MLAs on December 14, said the discussions brought together legislators from different communities and focused squarely on restoring peace and ensuring development. According to him, the wide participation itself reflected a shared commitment to moving the state forward.
The MLA was responding to questions from journalists on the sidelines of the Chongtham Bimalabasanta Award 2025 ceremony held at the Manipur Press Club shortly after his arrival in the state.
He said Manipur should not remain trapped in a difficult phase indefinitely and expressed confidence that better days lay ahead. Periods of hardship, he noted, were often followed by improvement if the right steps were taken at the right time.
Voicing hope that the Delhi meeting would help lay the foundation for lasting peace, Radheshyam said a strong beginning was essential to achieving long-term solutions, adding that the process now underway needed time and collective effort to bear fruit.
