Don't know about President's Rule, central leaders will resolve Manipur crisis: BJP MLA

Amid ongoing political turmoil in Manipur, BJP MLA Karam Shyam dismissed speculations about the imposition of the President’s Rule, asserting that the crisis would be resolved with the intervention of central leaders and state legislators.

Speaking to the media before his scheduled meeting with BJP North East in-charge Sambit Patra at Hotel Imphal, Karam Shyam stated, “I don’t know about the imposition of President’s Rule. I think the problem will be solved by central leaders with the help of state legislators. I don’t think there will be a constitutional crisis in Manipur.”

His remarks come as uncertainty continues to grip the state, with no official announcement on the political situation despite the six-month interval since the last sitting of the Manipur Assembly ending today.

Since February 10, Sambit Patra has been conducting one-on-one meetings with BJP MLAs in an attempt to navigate the crisis. Earlier today, Patra also met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhawan. He remained tight-lipped after the 50-minute-long meeting, declining to comment on any potential developments when questioned by reporters.

Minister Leishangthem Sushindro has also arrived at Hotel Imphal, but has yet to make a statement. With tensions mounting, all eyes remain on the BJP’s central leadership as they deliberate the future course of action for Manipur.
