Despite ongoing peace dialogues facilitated by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to bridge tensions between the Kuki-Zo and Meitei communities, fresh violence erupted in Konsaram village this morning, disrupting the fragile calm in strife-torn Manipur.
In a shocking escalation, armed miscreants reportedly attacked members of the Liangmai Naga community in the Zeliangrong Colony of Konsaram.
According to initial reports, seven to eight villagers were assaulted, with two prominent community leaders sustaining serious injuries.
The victims have been identified as Village Chief Aimson Abonmai (65) and Village Chairman D. Adam (40).
Both were reportedly brutally beaten, and their vehicles vandalised during the early morning assault.

The two injured leaders were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the region, even as the Centre continues to engage both Kuki and Meitei stakeholders in peace talks in New Delhi.
The attack has not only endangered the lives of innocent civilians but also posed a direct challenge to the credibility of the ongoing negotiations.
Local sources fear that the incident could trigger further ethnic reprisals if not contained urgently.
Security forces have been alerted, and an investigation is reportedly underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
