"I don't want to listen to him": Congress MP Bimol Akoijam on PM Modi's 'silence' over Manipur crisis

Congress MP from Inner Manipur, A. Bimol Akoijam on December 14 expressed his disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “I don’t want to listen to him.” Akoijam revealed his frustration over not getting an opportunity to voice his opinions during the discussion, despite having “very interesting points” to contribute.

The MP announced his intention to write an article to share his perspective, citing his three decades of observing the functioning of the Constitution and Parliament. Reflecting on the 75th anniversary of the Constitution, he acknowledged its significance but lamented the “complete breakdown of constitutional machinery” in the current scenario.

Akoijam appreciated the solidarity shown by opposition MPs towards the crisis in Manipur but criticized the Prime Minister’s continued silence on the issue, stating it had initially left him hurt. He added, "Now I feel deeply offended. I didn’t want to hurt myself anymore by listening to his speech.” However, he left room for reconsideration, saying, “If he makes sense and someone tells me, I will listen to him.”
