“I will continue my fight for justice”: Manipur Congress MLA Meghachandra after blast near residence

Manipur Congress MLA Keisham Meghachandra Singh said he will continue to demand justice and restoration of normalcy in the state following an explosion near his residence at Yairipok Bishnunaha.

Speaking about the incident, Meghachandra said police reached the spot immediately after the blast. He reiterated that he would continue to raise issues concerning the state, including the demand for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as the base year.

“Right after the blast, the police came immediately. I will continue my demand for justice in this state, and I will fight for justice,” Meghachandra said.

The Congress leader said the demand for restoration of normalcy and resolution of the issues facing Manipur had also been raised strongly in the state Assembly over the past two days.

He said Congress MLAs had raised several “core issues” concerning the state, including the demand for updating the NRC and retaining 1951 as its base year.

“Regarding NRC's base year of 1951, this was also denied by the BJP government. This is the demand of the entire people of Manipur,” he said, alleging that the issue had contributed to conflict in the state.

Meghachandra also criticised the government over what he described as the absence of a clear roadmap to address the prevailing situation in Manipur.

“There is no roadmap from the government till now,” he said.
