In a heartfelt tribute to its veterans, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps organised a large-scale Ex-Servicemen Rally in Senapati district, Manipur, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to those who have served the nation with distinction.
The rally witnessed an impressive turnout of over 520 attendees, comprising 401 ex-servicemen, 85 war widows, and 18 Veer Naris and Veer Matas. The event was graced by Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps, as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by Major General Sameer S Kartikeya, YSM, SM, General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division.
In his address, Lt Gen Pendharkar extended heartfelt gratitude to the veterans for their selfless service and recognised the invaluable sacrifices of Veer Naris and Veer Matas. He highlighted the significant contributions made by ex-servicemen in maintaining peace and promoting development in Manipur, especially in recent years. Commending their role in education, sports, and social stability, he also appreciated their active support of Operation Sindoor and urged them to continue guiding the younger generation toward unity and national integration.
Reaffirming the Army’s commitment to veteran welfare, Lt Gen Pendharkar outlined recent initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for ex-servicemen and their families. As a gesture of appreciation, he also felicitated Dr. V. Alexander Pao, President of Mount Everest College, for the institution's vital support in organising the rally.
The event included a special felicitation of gallantry awardees and war widows, underscoring the Army’s respect for its heroes and their enduring legacy. Several essential services were made available, including grievance redressal desks, banking assistance, a treasury office for pension-related queries, and veteran-specific support systems.
A comprehensive medical camp was jointly conducted by Army medical personnel and the District Civil Hospital, providing free health consultations, check-ups, and essential medications. A dedicated pharmacy counter ensured swift distribution of prescribed medicines.
