Kangpokpi rally backs Manipur Dy CM amid fund misappropriation allegations row

Hundreds of people participated in a protest rally in Kangpokpi against allegations levelled against Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) and Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO).

The rally began from Nute Kailhang in Kangpokpi and proceeded along National Highway-2, with demonstrators carrying placards and raising slogans in support of the Deputy Chief Minister.

Participants in the protest alleged that the accusations against Nemcha Kipgen were politically motivated and appealed to the Centre, the state government, and BJP leadership to intervene in the matter.

Several speakers at the rally defended the Deputy Chief Minister and highlighted her role in peace-building efforts and governance initiatives in Manipur. Protesters also claimed that targeting senior tribal leaders could further affect efforts aimed at restoring normalcy in the state.

A woman protester speaking during the rally questioned the allegations and said concerns, if any, should be addressed through proper departmental procedures and investigations.

The demonstrators further stated that Nemcha Kipgen had continued to support initiatives related to peace, reconciliation, and development despite challenges arising from the ongoing situation in Manipur.

Some speakers also expressed concern over rising mistrust among communities and urged all organisations and stakeholders to work towards maintaining communal harmony and stability in the state.

The protest concluded with an appeal for a fair inquiry into the allegations and for efforts to ensure peace and cooperation among all communities in Manipur.
