Manipur: Alliance Air soars again, Imphal-Dimapur flight service takes flight after brief suspension

In a welcome relief for air travelers, Alliance Air has successfully resumed its Imphal-Dimapur direct flight service, marking a triumphant return to the skies after a temporary suspension on October 25, 2023.

The ATR aircraft, boasting a comfortable seating capacity of 70 passengers, is scheduled to operate three times a week, ensuring connectivity between the two vital cities every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The flight departs Imphal at 09:25 and touches down in Dimapur at 10:15.

Conversely, the Dimapur-Imphal-Guwahati flight will be operational on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The inaugural flight, which took to the skies on a recent Saturday, carried 63 passengers, signaling a promising resurgence in air travel.

The return of the flight service was met with a spectacular water cannon salute and a warm reception at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport. Airport Director C Keishing, Station Manager Angad Mahato, Chief Security Officer W Ranbir Singh, and the dedicated staff of Alliance Air joined forces to extend a hearty welcome to the first flight.

The significance of reinstating the Imphal-Dimapur flight service cannot be overstated, especially in light of the ongoing challenges faced by ground transportation. The Imphal-Dimapur Highway (NH-2) frequently experiences disruptions due to persistent bandhs and blockades imposed by Kuki tribal bodies.

Underlining its commitment to fostering regional connectivity, Alliance Air continues to operate the Imphal-Dimapur route under the government's regional connectivity scheme, UDAN (Ude Desh Ke Aam Naagrik), ensuring that air travel remains accessible and affordable for all citizens.
