Manipur: Armed miscreants engage in proxy voting in Imphal, EVM destroyed, 3 injured

At least three persons injured after miscreants armed with weapons allegedly infiltrated a polling station in Khongman, Imphal East.

They proceeded to cast votes on behalf of multiple voters, despite the presence of police officials and political party agents.

Upon learning of this egregious act, enraged citizens stormed into the premises of National Children’s School in Khongman Zone 4, which houses polling station number 5 by 31, and vandalized the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines.

The public condemned the armed miscreants, accusing them of engaging in proxy voting to secure victory for a particular candidate.

A similar incident unfolded at Khongman Zone 5 polling station, situated approximately 200 meters away from polling station 5 by 31.
