Manipur Cabinet hails Modi’s 25 years of public service, cites projects and development

The Manipur Cabinet on October 6 expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 25 years of public service, describing him as a “visionary leader” and highlighting development projects and initiatives undertaken during his tenure.

Speaking to reporters at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat after a Cabinet meeting, government spokesperson Sapam Ranjan Singh said the Cabinet had adopted a resolution expressing its appreciation for Modi’s initiatives and services over the past 25 years as a political leader and head of government.

The Cabinet highlighted several projects and initiatives in Manipur, including the expansion of railway connectivity, implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system and the establishment of Churachandpur Medical College, described as the first medical college in the state’s hill districts.

Singh also referred to the 2023 peace agreement with the UNLF-Pambei group and the ongoing border-fencing project along the India-Myanmar border.

He said the Cabinet also took note of broader economic and infrastructure developments cited by the Union government, including India’s 7.4 per cent economic growth in 2025-26 and the rise in foreign exchange reserves from around USD 312 billion in 2014 to about USD 786 billion in September 2026.

Singh said around 25 crore people had moved out of poverty and highlighted the provision of free foodgrains to about 80 crore people, construction of more than four crore houses, 12 crore toilets and 10 crore LPG connections.

The government spokesperson also cited expansion in healthcare, drinking water, banking services and infrastructure as areas of development during Modi’s tenure.

He said the national highway network had expanded from around 91,000 km to more than 1.46 lakh km, while the number of airports had increased from 74 to more than 160.

The Cabinet's resolution comes amid a nationwide observance marking Modi’s 25 years of public service. A Union Cabinet resolution earlier this year also noted that Modi was approaching the 25-year milestone as head of government.
