Manipur CM Biren Singh slams Congress of attempting to trace government's confidential information

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated that the opposition Congress party is attempting to trace confidential information of government by putting baseless allegation.

Speaking to the media in response to Congress' accusations made yesterday, Biren Singh refuted the party's allegations that the state government had paid money to the Kuki-Zo militant outfit, the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic), which is a signatory of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, in July 2024, at the height of the ongoing conflict.

Biren emphasized that the government is obligated to maintain confidentiality for certain matters, particularly those with positive purposes, and that Congress' allegations were a tactic aimed at uncovering sensitive information.

"Certain issues require the government to maintain secrecy for the greater good. However, Congress continues to make these allegations as part of a strategy to trace such information. Any clarification regarding Congress' accusations should come from the relevant authorities, not from me," Biren stated.

He further expressed his commitment to focusing on governance and progress, stating that the state must prioritize issues and avoid distractions caused by opposition arguments. "There is no time for debates with the opposition. I am focused on moving forward with the people of the state, as demonstrated by my visit to Maram in Senapati yesterday," Biren added.

The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude for the ongoing Gaan-Ngai celebration, a significant cultural event in the region.
