Manipur crisis: Naga MLAs discuss situation amid demand for deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen’s removal

Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho said Naga legislators were holding discussions with the state government and senior security officials to address the prevailing situation, amid demands from Naga MLAs for the resignation or removal of Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen.

Dikho said Naga MLAs had met to discuss ways to improve the situation and had also taken up the matter with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Director General of Police (DGP) and Security Advisor.

“We are trying our best. Even today, we had a meeting among our Naga MLAs on how to bring about an immaculate situation. We have had discussions with all the concerned, including the Chief Minister, the DGP and the Security Advisor, to apprise them of the situation and discuss how to bring it under control,” Dikho said.

The discussions come amid demands from Naga legislators for the resignation or removal of Nemcha Kipgen, another Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur. The issue has added to the political challenges facing the state government as it seeks to address the prevailing situation.

Further details on the outcome of the discussions and the government's response to the demand concerning Kipgen are awaited.
