Manipur: CSO leaders gather at SAHILCA New Year feast, pledge to work in unity for peace and development

Reiterating the need for unity, mutual understanding and collective responsibility, the Sadar Hills Chiefs’ Association (SAHILCA) on Tuesday, January 6 organised its annual New Year Feast and Prayer in Kangpokpi, bringing together leaders of various civil society organisations (CSOs) from across the district.

The gathering served as a common platform for reflection, fellowship and renewed commitment, highlighting the pivotal role of civil society and traditional institutions in safeguarding social harmony and advancing people-centric development in the region.

The central objective of the programme was to seek divine guidance and blessings for sustained cooperation among CSOs, with speakers emphasising that unity remains indispensable in addressing social challenges and protecting the collective interests of the people of Sadar Hills.

Rev. Dr. Satkhokai Chongloi, who attended the event as the minister, led special prayers for CSO leaders, invoking wisdom, strength and discernment as they shoulder the responsibility of guiding society through the year ahead.

Addressing the gathering, speakers underscored that the initiative was more than a ceremonial observance, describing it as a timely reminder of the shared moral and social obligations of civil society and traditional leadership in promoting peace, stability and inclusive development in Kangpokpi district.

The New Year Feast and Prayer concluded with a renewed pledge by participating organisations to work in unity and harmony, reinforcing SAHILCA’s role as a unifying platform committed to the social, cultural and moral well-being of the people of Sadar Hills.
