Manipur DGP highlights progress in peace efforts; urges youth to reject violence

Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh reaffirmed the state police's commitment to restoring peace and stability, citing the surrender of over 1,000 arms, ammunition, and explosives following the Governor's appeal as a positive step towards reconciliation.

“Manipur Police remains steadfast in our resolve to restore stability, protect lives, and uphold the rule of law," he said, further adding that the developments reflect the shift towards reconciliation backed by firm enforcement and responsible dialogue.

The DGP further urged the youth to reject violence and dedicate themselves to the service of the state and nation.

The DGP noted that, despite ongoing challenges, Manipur Police, in collaboration with Central Armed Forces and other agencies, have carried out determined operations to recover thousands of looted arms and significant quantities of ammunition and explosives from both hill and valley districts.

"Over the past few months, in the face of great adversity, Manipur police, along with Central Armed Forces and sister agencies, have undertaken a series of determined operations to restore law and order. These efforts have resulted in the recovery of thousands of looted arms and large quantities of ammunition and explosives from both hill and valley districts," he said.

Furthermore, he asserted that regular patrolling, securing vulnerable zones to prevent clashes, enhancing border security along the Myanmar border, and deploying special task forces in all districts to detect and act against illegal immigrants are among the key measures being implemented to maintain law and order.

"Special task forces have been constituted in all district police to detect, identify and take appropriate legal action against the illegal immigrants," he ensured.
