A farmer was injured in a suspected militant attack while working in a paddy field in Phubala, under Manipur's Bishnupur district, on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place at approximately 3:00 pm, prompting fresh concerns over the region's ongoing ethnic tensions.
According to local sources, gunshots believed to have been fired by suspected Kuki militants came from nearby hill areas and were aimed toward the fields where farmers were working.
One of the farmers sustained injuries and was rushed to the district hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
A video showing the injured man receiving medical attention has since surfaced on social media, drawing public attention and raising alarm over the deteriorating security situation in the area.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but security forces are reportedly assessing the situation.
Tensions between Meitei and Kuki communities have been ongoing in the region for over a year, with sporadic violence affecting civilian life and agricultural activity.
