Manipur: Final rites of two children killed in Tronglaobi blast to be held today
The final rites of two children, including an infant, who were killed in the April 7 blast at Tronglaobi in Manipur’s Bishnupur district, will be held on May 2.
after family members claimed their bodies from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) mortuary in Imphal.
Relatives and family members collected the mortal remains before taking the bodies in a funeral procession to their native village for the last rites.
The two children were killed when a bomb allegedly hurled by suspected Kuki militants struck the residence of Oinam Babuton at Tronglaobi during the early hours of April 7.
The deceased children have been identified as Babuton’s two grandchildren — a five-year-old child and an infant aged a few months. Their mother sustained injuries in the explosion and is undergoing treatment.
The incident had triggered widespread condemnation in the region amid continuing tensions in parts of Manipur. Security agencies are investigating the blast and efforts are underway to identify those responsible for the attack.
