            <div class="clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item"><p>Commonwealth Games 2026 weightlifting medallists Sorokhaibam Bindyarani Devi and Chanambam Rishikanta were accorded a warm welcome at Imphal International Airport on August 10 following their medal-winning performances at the Games in Glasgow.</p>

<p>Officials from the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, members of the All Manipur Weightlifting Association, family members, well-wishers and supporters gathered at the airport to felicitate the two athletes.</p>

<p>Bindyarani won the bronze medal in the women's 58-kg weightlifting category, while Rishikanta secured silver in the men's 60-kg category. They were welcomed with garlands and felicitated by supporters upon their arrival.</p>

<p>Speaking to the media, Bindyarani credited her parents, coaches and supporters for helping her reach the international stage. She said the achievements of women from Manipur in sports reflected the contribution they could make when provided with sustained support and encouragement.</p>

<p>She also stressed the need for continued backing for women athletes to help them achieve greater success in competitive sports.</p>

<p>Rishikanta said he had entered the competition with the target of winning gold but returned with a silver medal. He described the achievement as a "dream come true" and said he would work harder to improve his performance and aim for better results in future competitions.</p>

<p>Naorem Praveen Singh, Secretary and Commissioner of Youth Affairs and Sports, congratulated the two medallists and said their performances demonstrated the importance of determination and perseverance in overcoming challenges.</p>

<p>Speaking about the strong performance of Manipuri women at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Singh said women from the state have played a prominent role across different fields and have continued to perform exceptionally well in sports.</p>

<p>He also said weightlifters Saikhom Mirabai and M Jadumani Singh have been confirmed for participation in the upcoming Asian Games.</p>
