Humanitarian Aid International (HAI), in partnership with People’s Resource Development Association (PRDA) and Start Network, launched a targeted relief operation in flood-ravaged Kangpokpi under the Manipur Flood Response – Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Resilience program.
On Monday, the coalition successfully distributed essential relief materials to 165 severely affected families in Kangpokpi District Headquarters, marking the first phase of aid delivery in the district. The distributed kits included food items, hygiene products, and non-food essentials aimed at supporting families displaced or devastated by recent flood events.
The initiative, which aims to assist 500 flood-impacted households, earlier reached 170 families in Senapati district, as part of its initial outreach.
Officials reported that all three assembly constituencies in Kangpokpi district have suffered significant flood damage, with thousands displaced and communities grappling with acute food shortages and health risks.
Ensuring transparency and accountability, organizers erected a detailed transparency board at the distribution site. The board itemized approximately 30 relief items — ranging from rice, pulses, and edible oil to sanitary napkins, mosquito nets, hygiene kits, and cleaning products — with clearly stated quantities and costs.
To uphold a participatory and responsive relief process, a complaint and feedback box was also made available, allowing beneficiaries to report concerns or share suggestions regarding the aid received.
HAI and its partners have confirmed that the second phase of the distribution drive will soon commence in Saitu and Saikul Assembly Constituencies within Sadar Hills, further expanding their reach to vulnerable families still in crisis.
