Manipur: Hailstorm wreaks havoc in Imphal, video goes viral on X

Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, bore witness to extensive damage today as a severe hailstorm swept through the region around 1400 hours. 

The aftermath of the natural disaster has left residents grappling with the destruction caused to property and crops.

In the wake of the calamity, one concerned citizen took to social media platform 'X' to voice their apprehensions regarding the underlying causes of such extreme weather events. 

They drew attention to the impact of climate change in Manipur, attributing it to illegal migrants engaging in deforestation for poppy cultivation and establishing unauthorized settlements.

"Look at this hailstorm in Manipur today at about 1400h. This is the impact of climate change in Manipur caused by illegal migrants clearing forest for poppy plantation and making random illegal habitation centers. Such hailstorms, which were rare, are now very common this year," the citizen expressed on 'X'.
