Manipur Home Minister says detailed report on Loibol Khullen attack yet to be received
Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam on June 5 said the state government is yet to receive a detailed report on the deadly pre-dawn attack at Loibol Khullen village in Kangpokpi district that claimed three lives.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a World Environment Day programme at the City Convention Centre, the minister said that authorities have not yet received comprehensive information regarding the incident.
When asked about those responsible for the attack, Govindas Konthoujam said it would be premature to comment as detailed reports from the ground were still awaited.
The Home Minister also addressed questions regarding the Naga hostages case, in which it was reportedly stated during a recent court hearing that the National Investigation Agency had not received formal intimation despite the Manipur government's announcement that the case would be referred to the central agency.
Clarifying the matter, Konthoujam said he had personally signed the relevant file and suggested that the issue may have arisen due to a misunderstanding. He further stated that some developments in the case are expected within the next few days.
The minister's remarks came hours after a deadly attack at Loibol Khullen village under the New Keithelmanbi area of Kangpokpi district. According to sources, suspected armed militants launched the attack at around 4 am, resulting in the deaths of three civilians, including a woman.
Several houses in the village were also reportedly set ablaze during the incident, causing extensive damage and heightening tensions in the area.
Security forces have launched investigations into the attack, while local residents and leaders have demanded swift action against those responsible. Further details are awaited.
