Manipur: Imphal East SP warns against activities promoting enmity and hate speech
The Superintendent of Police, Imphal East District, Manipur, issued a press note highlighting frequent reports of activities by certain organizations and individuals that may incite enmity and conflict among communities.
These include moral policing, hate speech on social media, and other unauthorized actions, some of which have resulted in grievous injuries or deaths.
The SP warned that stringent legal actions would be taken against those involved in such activities, emphasizing the need to prevent actions that disrupt communal harmony.
Specific focus was placed on addressing hate speech and other prejudicial acts on social media, which can fuel discord between communities.

An appeal was made to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the general public to refrain from spreading hate or provocative messages.
The SP also urged the public to cooperate in curbing such incidents and support actions taken against anti-social elements.
This statement underscores the district administration's commitment to maintaining peace and communal harmony in the region amidst increasing concerns over rising tensions.
