Manipur: Kangpokpi IDPs elect new leadership, Hegin Haokip named president

The Kangpokpi District Internally Displaced Persons Welfare Committee (KDIDWC) has elected a new team of office-bearers at its general body meeting-cum-election held at the EBCCF Campus in Saparmeina, Kangpokpi district.

Hegin Haokip was elected president of the committee, while Thangboi Haokip and Lungoulen Guite were elected vice presidents. Lunminlal Baite was elected general secretary.

The other office-bearers include Lutminlun Hangshing and S.K. as joint secretaries; Lalboi Khongsai as secretary (finance); Ginlal as secretary (information and publicity); and Hatnu Kipgen as treasurer.

Following their election, the newly elected office-bearers were dedicated to their responsibilities through a prayer led by Pastor Tongkhojang Lhouvum of KIBC Kangpokpi.

The new leadership is expected to strengthen the committee’s efforts to represent the concerns and safeguard the welfare of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kangpokpi district.

With displacement continuing to pose humanitarian and socio-economic challenges for affected families, the committee plays a key role in raising their concerns, facilitating welfare initiatives and pursuing measures to address their needs and hardships.

The meeting concluded with a prayer seeking divine guidance and blessings for the newly elected office-bearers as they assume their responsibilities.
