Manipur: Kangpokpi's Oasis College unites youth against trafficking through Mukhti Marathon and Chillax Idol 2025

A powerful blend of purpose and passion marked the atmosphere at Oasis College, Kangpokpi, as students, faculty, and the local community came together for Chillax 2025 – “Unleash the Spark”, a three-day annual fest that celebrated creativity, youth empowerment, and social consciousness.

The highlight of the festival was the Mukhti Marathon Challenge 2025, organized under the resonant theme “No to Child Trafficking, No to Human Trafficking.” The event was a joint effort by Oasis College, Oasis India, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Kangpokpi Police, the District Child Protection Unit/CWC, and the District Social Welfare Department.

The flag-off ceremony was held at Brigadier M. Thomas Ground, where Melody Varte, Community Social Worker, Oasis India, delivered an impassioned address urging youth to champion the fight against human exploitation. The ceremony began with an invocation prayer by Pastor Janggin Chongloi, Vice Chairman of KTCF, and was graced by Lamminal Simte, MCS, Assistant Commissioner and District Social Welfare Officer, Kangpokpi.

Over 200 participants took part in the 7-kilometre marathon, which commenced from Thomas Ground and concluded at the Oasis College campus via Mission Compound.

At the reception and prize distribution ceremony, Lhunninlal Khongsai, MPS/SDPO Kangpokpi, and Nodal Officer, AHTU Kangpokpi Police, presented prizes to the winners in the presence of Lamminlal Simte, MCS.

In the Boys’ Category, Lungtiplung Phaomei, Thaorilung Panmei, and Praven Dhungama secured the top three positions, while in the Girls’ Category, Vahlemching Vaiphei, Nengneithem Khongsai, and Sofia Vaiphei emerged as winners. Certificates were also awarded to the Top 20 finishers as tokens of appreciation and encouragement.

The marathon was powered by Oasis India, Punjab National Bank (PNB), Envision, and the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, underscoring a collaborative stand against human trafficking.

“This is more than a race — it’s a movement of hope, awareness, and collective responsibility to end exploitation,” said an organizing member of the Chillax Committee.

Adding to the excitement of the fest was the Chillax Idol, a vibrant singing competition that stole the limelight and electrified the audience. With dazzling stage lights and thunderous cheers, young performers showcased their talent through soulful melodies and energetic performances, reflecting the creative pulse of Oasis College.

After rounds of captivating performances, Seiminlun (Johnny Kipgen) of TC College, Kangpokpi, claimed the first prize of ₹12,000, followed by Hoithenkim Singsit (Kimjolly) of Oasis College, Kangpokpi, who bagged the second prize of ₹7,000. Chongmoithem of Ideal English Senior Secondary School, Charhazare, secured the third position with ₹5,000, while the Audience Choice Award went to Thanggoumang Touthang, who received ₹2,000.

“Chillax Idol is not merely a contest — it’s a celebration of dreams, resilience, and youthful spirit,” said one of the organizers as the crowd erupted in applause.

The event concluded with a Closing Prayer by Pastor Nehminlal Haokip, Finance Secretary, KTCF, marking the end of a festival that seamlessly blended awareness with artistry.

Through Chillax 2025, Oasis College reaffirmed its motto — “To Impart, Empower, and Transform” — nurturing not just intellect but also empathy and civic consciousness among the youth of Kangpokpi.
