The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has officially withdrawn its ultimatum to the state government after key demands concerning academic and healthcare vacancies in Kangpokpi District were fulfilled.
Speaking at a press conference held at the organisation's administrative office, Assistant Education Secretary Chochon Tuboi confirmed that the Higher & Technical Education and Health Departments had responded positively to their concerns, issuing orders to fill critical staffing gaps.
As per the official notifications:
Four professors and nine contractual assistant professors have been posted to Presidency College, Motbung.
Four medical officers have been assigned to healthcare centres across the district.
The ultimatum, issued on May 8, raised alarm over persistent vacancies in educational and medical institutions, particularly:

KSO-SH had warned of launching democratic agitation if no action was taken within a set timeframe.
Praising the departments for their swift response, Tuboi said, “This is a positive step toward restoring faith in public institutions and governance. We now call upon the appointed personnel to report without delay and serve with dedication.”
He also emphasized that this development must serve as a precedent for equitable governance, adding that the Organisation will continue to monitor ground implementation to ensure accountability.
Widely appreciated by civil society, the peaceful pressure campaign by KSO-SH is being hailed as a model of responsible, youth-led advocacy that upholds democratic values while delivering tangible results.
With new appointments now in place, stakeholders in Kangpokpi hope to see long-overdue improvements in education and health service delivery.
