Manipur: Kuki apex body reaffirms unity, Ajang Khongsai returns as KIM president
The 31st General Assembly-cum-Election of the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kuki tribes in Manipur, concluded successfully at Hengbung Village with former president Ch. Ajang Khongsai re-elected to lead the organisation. The outcome reaffirms the community’s commitment to unity, transparency, and democratic functioning.
The assembly, held in a peaceful and highly participatory atmosphere, drew enthusiastic delegates from all constituent groups, regions, and sections of the Kuki community. Members collectively underscored their resolve to strengthen organisational integrity and advance socio-political welfare.
According to election officials, the voting process was carried out with complete transparency and without any procedural obstacles. Following the announcement of results, Rev. L. Singsit, Executive Member of the Kuki Churches Leaders’ Fellowship (KCLF), offered a special dedication prayer for the newly elected office-bearers. The oath of affirmation was administered by Election Returning Officer Thangjang Haokip, who also chairs the KIM Election Commission.
The newly elected executive team comprises:
Ch. Ajang Khongsai – President
Henkhopao Haokip – Vice President
Paotinthang Lupheng – General Secretary
Lala Misao – Finance Secretary
Janghaolun Haokip – Secretary, Information & Publicity
In a gesture of honour and goodwill, the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights and the Kuki Women Union presented each of the newly elected leaders with a traditional Saipikhup shawl, symbolising blessings and congratulations.
KIM expressed heartfelt appreciation to all delegates, observers, volunteers, and community members whose support contributed to the smooth and successful conduct of the assembly.
The re-elected president and his team pledged to uphold the aspirations of the Kuki people and work with renewed commitment towards unity, harmony, and inclusive socio-political progress.
