In a significant move toward building peace and fostering mutual understanding, Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen convened a goodwill meeting at Hengbung, bringing together leaders of 12 Liangmai Naga villages and representatives of the Sadar Hills Chiefs’ Association (SAHILCA), which represents the Kuki-Zo community.
The gathering sought to strengthen cooperation, deepen mutual respect, and reaffirm the spirit of peaceful coexistence between the two communities.
Village chairmen and authority members from Makhan, Leikhompokpi, Khunkhu, Konsakhul, Samuk, Ireng, Langka, K. Lunroiram, Asilong, Machangram, West Harup Naga, and Lower Makhan participated in the meeting. They were joined by Kuki-Zo leaders under the banner of SAHILCA.
Addressing the assembly, MLA Kipgen emphasized that unity and harmony among communities were the foundation for the constituency’s overall growth and stability. He urged both sides to uphold the values of coexistence and work collectively to prevent discord.
Leaders of both communities warmly welcomed the initiative. Liangmai village chiefs expressed their gratitude to the MLA for facilitating the dialogue and stressed that dialogue and cooperation remain the only viable paths to long-lasting peace. SAHILCA representatives also pledged their commitment to fostering stronger ties with the Liangmai Nagas for enduring stability and development.
The meet concluded with a shared resolution to deepen bonds, strengthen understanding, and work together for collective progress in the region.
