Manipur MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Wednesday sharply criticised the PUCL’s tribunal report on the Manipur crisis, terming it “one-sided, baseless, and adding fuel to the peace process.”
He announced plans to file an FIR against the PUCL for allegedly maligning the Meitei community as instigators of the conflict.
Speaking at a poem recitation competition organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh in remembrance of Manipur martyrs, Sanajaoba called the report “unfortunate and surprising” and demanded that the PUCL apologise and withdraw it. He further urged civil society, the legal fraternity, and citizens to collectively demand an investigation into the report, and said the matter would be escalated to central leaders.
Highlighting the importance of youth awareness, he emphasised that Manipur’s challenges can only be addressed when students develop a deep understanding of the state’s history, geography, arts, and culture, fostering patriotism and love for their motherland.
The event, also attended by the BJP Manipur Pradesh president and vice president, celebrated student participation in the competition and encouraged engagement in cultural activities alongside academic learning.
