Manipur: Saparmeina gets its first event hall with inauguration of NC facility, community leaders laud initiative
The NC Event Hall, the first modern event facility of its kind in Saparmeina, was formally inaugurated at the NC Complex, Saparmeina, in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent community leaders and dignitaries. Lhunkholal Singhol, President of the Saparmeina Area Village Organisation, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Janglet Haokip, Vice Chairman of the Kuki-Zo Council, attended as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Seikhopao Haokip, Chairman of the Saitu–Saparmeina Village Authority, as the Functional President.
The hall was formally inaugurated and dedicated by Rev. Onthang Haokip, Pastor of KBC Centre Church, Salem Saparmeina, who offered prayers and invoked blessings for the successful functioning of the facility and its service to the community.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Ngamkhohao Haokip, proprietor of the NC Complex, underscored the importance of modern community spaces in fostering unity, creativity and social progress. He noted that an event hall is more than a physical structure—it serves as a vital platform for collective growth, hosting educational seminars, cultural programmes, social gatherings and constructive dialogue.
Dr. Haokip emphasised that in a rapidly evolving society, access to well-equipped venues is crucial for nurturing talent, strengthening community bonds and encouraging positive engagement, particularly among the youth. He expressed hope that NC Event Hall would emerge as a centre for intellectual, cultural and spiritual enrichment, contributing meaningfully to the overall development of the region.
An offering was made by Chongneikim Haokip, wife of the keynote speaker. The concept of the NC Event Hall is credited to Chongneikim Haokip and her son, Sasang, whose vision played a pivotal role in bringing the project to fruition.
Designed to meet contemporary standards, the facility is equipped with soundproof infrastructure, state-of-the-art sound and music systems, a climate-controlled ambience, and an attached karaoke facility. The hall is intended to host a wide range of activities, including seminars, meetings, conferences, celebrations and community events.
The programme witnessed the presence of representatives from Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union (KWU) Sadar Hills, along with village chiefs, church leaders and members of various civil society organisations.
Several speakers and dignitaries lauded the initiative, describing the establishment of the event hall as a forward-looking investment that would benefit both present and future generations. They expressed confidence that the facility would enhance social interaction and provide a dignified and inclusive space for community functions.
Adding a cultural and spiritual dimension to the event, renowned Kuki Gospel artistes enthralled the audience with melodious performances.
The inauguration of the NC Event Hall stands as a landmark achievement for Saparmeina, symbolising progress, unity and the community’s collective commitment to holistic development.
