For the first time since the outbreak of conflict in May 2023, leaders of the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) returned to Imphal, expressing deep happiness and hope after being warmly welcomed in the valley.
A 16-member delegation from TIM arrived in the state capital for a series of closed-door meetings with key civil society organisations, including the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCSO), All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO), Arambai Tenggol, as well as several women’s and student groups.
“I am happy to be here in Imphal after more than two years. It reminds me of my past. The valley people warmly welcomed us,” said TIM president James Thadoi, visibly moved by the reception.
The atmosphere during the visit was described as positive and constructive, with both sides expressing a strong desire to rebuild trust. Meetings held over two days focused on open communication, healing, and a shared commitment to lasting peace.
