Manipur: Women protesters storm minister's residence in Imphal West, demand action against narco terrorists

In a display of discontent against the government's handling of the ongoing conflict in Manipur, the women's wing of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity staged a protest at the residence of Information and Public Relations (IPR) Minister, Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, located in Lamphel under Imphal West district.

The protestors voiced their strong condemnation of both the state and central governments for their failure to address longstanding conflicts. They highlighted the sudden eruption of tension in Jiribam District, which had enjoyed relative peace for nearly 13 months. Drawing attention to past instances of violence in Churachandpur, Moreh, and Kangpokpi, they criticized the authorities for not taking sufficient preventive measures to contain the spread of violence.

Expressing disappointment with the state government's lack of decisive action in resolving the current conflict, the protestors emphasized the need for bold measures to bring about a peaceful resolution. They urged the government to take a firm stand against narco terrorists and end the cycle of violence.

The protestors demanded that MLAs and ministers visit Jiribam promptly to assess the situation firsthand. They called for the resignation of politicians who were unable to protect Manipur from external threats and urged the government to relinquish power to the public if it failed to address the issue of narco terrorism.

Furthermore, they warned of continuing their protests if the government did not take decisive action against narco terrorists. In response to the agitation, IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh assured the protestors that their demands would be thoroughly discussed with the public. He also stated that the government was actively engaged in addressing the issues affecting the state.
