A 21-year-old college student identified as Meitei Salai Thiyam, also known as Leo, from Palace Compound in Imphal East district, tragically succumbed to injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by his former girlfriend during a meeting intended to resolve past misunderstandings.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm in Thanga Ithing, under Bishnupur district. According to sources, the stabbing took place following a confrontation between the victim and the accused during a group outing.
Reports indicate that the victim, along with at least three friends and his current girlfriend, had visited Moirang Sendra. The accused, L. Pinky (21), a college student from Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai in Imphal West, arrived at the location accompanied by a male friend, purportedly to clear lingering disputes with the victim.
However, tensions escalated during the interaction, leading to an argument between Leo and Pinky. During the altercation, Pinky allegedly took a knife from her bag and stabbed Leo. He was immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre for first aid. Due to the rapid deterioration of his condition, he was transferred to Asian Hospital in Kwakeithel, where he was declared dead.
The body was later taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, the accused, Pinky, voluntarily surrendered at Nambol Police Station, where she is currently in custody. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are probing the background of the personal dispute that led to this tragic event.
Both the victim and the accused are reported to be college students.
