Nambol River overflows in Manipur's Bishnupur; 100 houses flooded
Incessant rainfall caused the Nambol River to overflow at Kongkham Mamang Leikai in Nambol, under Manipur's Bishnupur district, flooding around 100 houses and prompting residents to take precautionary measures to prevent further inundation.
With water levels continuing to rise, local residents and volunteers blocked sections of a river canal and reinforced vulnerable embankments in an effort to stop floodwaters from entering more residential areas.
The overflowing river has inundated several homes, forcing residents to remain on high alert amid fears of further flooding if the rainfall continues.
Authorities are expected to closely monitor the situation and assess the need for additional flood-control and relief measures should the weather conditions persist.
The incident comes as several parts of the State continue to experience heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
