NCC NE region ADG Major General Anurag Vij announces plan to strengthen Manipur unit
Additional Director General (ADG), NCC Directorate North Eastern Region, Shillong, Anurag Vij on Tuesday announced plans to strengthen the NCC unit in Manipur during his visit to NCC Group (GP) Imphal.
Major General Vij reviewed NCC activities in the state and interacted with NCC officers, staff and cadets. During the interaction, he highlighted key aspects related to NCC training modules, youth development initiatives, discipline standards and recent achievements of the Manipur unit.
Addressing the media, he stated that the NCC Manipur unit has performed exceptionally well over the years. He noted that after Assam, Manipur contributed the largest number of cadets from the North East Region to the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. However, he acknowledged that the ongoing crisis in the state had adversely impacted participation, particularly from a security standpoint. He added that as the situation gradually improves, the Directorate will make its best efforts to further strengthen the unit.
The ADG also announced plans to significantly expand the number of NCC cadets in Manipur in the coming days, in line with expansion efforts in other states. He informed that the Directorate is aiming to organise an All India Adventure Camp in Manipur in the near future.
“NCC cadets from Manipur are doing extremely well. The ongoing conflict has affected their activities, but once the situation is fully resolved, it will greatly benefit the youth of the state,” he said. He further revealed that an NCC cadet from Imphal recently served as the parade commander for the Prime Minister’s Rally in Delhi. He also highlighted that the North East Region secured the top position nationally in cultural activities, with significant contribution from cadets from Imphal.
Major General Vij additionally assured that efforts would be made to revive the NCC polo team in Manipur. He said that identification of youth with talent in polo would soon begin to support and strengthen the NCC unit in Imphal.
