'No official word yet on PM Modi’s visit': Manipur BJP

Speculation is growing over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s possible visit to Manipur on September 12 or 13, but BJP Manipur Pradesh says it has not received any official communication.

Speaking to reporters, party general secretary K. Saratkumar clarified, “We still have not received any official directives concerning Modi's visit. The itinerary and other details are yet to be shared with us.”

The visit, if confirmed, would mark Modi’s first trip to the violence-hit state in more than two years. The BJP unit in Manipur has expressed hope that his presence could pave the way for lasting peace. Saratkumar said the party is placing “a lot of expectations” on the Prime Minister’s intervention.

On opposition parties, Saratkumar accused Congress of wanting prolonged instability. “They want chaos and unrest to continue till 2027 and get into elections,” he alleged.

Regarding the formation of a popular government, the BJP leader remarked, “We are more eager to form a government compared to Congress.”
