President Murmu lands in Imphal at 1 PM to kick off two-day Manipur visit
President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Imphal International Airport around 1 pm on Thursday, beginning her two-day visit to Manipur.
She was received by senior officials of the Manipur government before proceeding to a series of scheduled engagements across the state.
Soon after her arrival, the President headed to the historic Mapal Kangjeibung to witness a polo exhibition match, underscoring Manipur’s deep cultural and sporting legacy.
The event marks the beginning of a packed schedule that highlights both ceremonial significance and developmental priorities.
In the evening, she will attend a civic reception hosted by the state government at the City Convention Centre in Imphal. During the programme, President Murmu will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several key projects, reaffirming the Centre’s focus on accelerating infrastructure and development in the Northeast.
On Friday, she will visit the Nupee Lal Memorial Complex to honour the courageous Manipuri women who led two historic agitations against British colonial rule. Her tribute will mark the state’s annual observance of Nupi Lal Day.
Following the ceremony in Imphal, the President will travel to the Senapati district, where she is scheduled to address a public gathering. She will also lay foundation stones and dedicate new projects aimed at strengthening development initiatives in the hill district.
Murmu’s visit reflects the Centre’s continued engagement with Manipur during a period of ongoing efforts to ensure stability, development, and recognition of the state’s historical and cultural identity.
