Severe rockslide hits NH-102A in Manipur's Senapati, driver and helper escape unhurt
A severe rockslide reportedly occurred along National Highway-102A near the stretch connecting Phaibung Khullen and Vaisiichu in Manipur’s Senapati district, following continuous rainfall in the region.
The incident turned the highway, considered a vital transport lifeline for the area, into a hazardous route and raised concerns over commuter safety amid adverse weather conditions.
According to reports, incessant rainfall triggered the rockslide, causing large rocks and debris to fall onto the roadway. A vehicle travelling through the affected stretch was caught in the incident.
However, the driver and his helper narrowly escaped without injuries, avoiding what could have resulted in a major tragedy.
Authorities are expected to assess the affected stretch and undertake necessary measures to restore safe movement along the highway. The incident has once again highlighted the vulnerability of hill roads and critical transport corridors during the monsoon season.
