Shamanic art metal band Serpents of Pakhangba to perform live in Imphal

Renowned shamanic art metal band Serpents of Pakhangba, regarded as one of the pioneering groups of its genre from North East India, is set to perform in Imphal, Manipur at The Venue by Elle’s on January 3.

The event, being organised with the support of Extreme Entertainment, is expected to draw music lovers and enthusiasts of experimental and indigenous fusion music from across the region.

The upcoming performance was announced during a press meet held at Hotel Imolesh, where members of the band shared insights into their musical journey and artistic vision. Speaking on the occasion, band founder Vishal J Singh said Serpents of Pakhangba functions as a unique musical collective that blends ancient Meitei mythology, traditional narratives, and a wide range of indigenous instruments from various tribes across the world into a single musical expression. He said the band’s music is deeply rooted in cultural consciousness while also exploring contemporary metal forms.

Singh further informed that the programme will also feature performances by bands including Ereimang, Innocent Eyes, The Square, and others. He appealed to the public and music enthusiasts to attend the event and extend their support to ensure its success.

Meanwhile, band vocalist Takako Haremaki said that sound itself serves as an ancient linguistic medium through which deep emotions can be conveyed beyond spoken language. She added that the band draws inspiration from dragon deities found in both Japanese and Manipuri traditions and expressed happiness at being able to present this shared cultural symbolism to the people of Manipur.

The event is expected to offer audiences a rare convergence of shamanic art, metal music, and indigenous cultural elements, promising a powerful and immersive musical experience.
