Students allegedly fired upon after board exams in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district
Students of Blossom Hebron English School in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district allegedly came under fire while returning home after their board examinations, triggering concern among local residents over security arrangements in the hill district.
The incident reportedly took place around 11:40 am on March 24 along the Tingpibung–Leplen road when Class X students were travelling from Saikul to Simol village under Bungpi block. The students had completed their examinations in Saikul hill town on Monday and were returning under the supervision of their warden.
According to students, suspected militants opened fire from the opposite side of Sinakeithel village along the Leplen–Tingpibung stretch. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The alleged attack occurred hours after violence was reported in the Mongkot Chepu area, raising concerns about the security situation in the region.
Students claimed that security personnel were stationed in nearby areas at the time of the incident. “We had just finished our exams and were on our way home. We never imagined something like this would happen,” one of the students said.
The incident has caused fear among residents and parents, who have expressed concern over the safety of students travelling through vulnerable routes. Locals have called for a review of security arrangements and measures to ensure safe passage for civilians, especially school children.
