Tension grips Manipur's Senapati district as two trucks burned at Karong following recovery of 6 bodies
Tension prevailed in Manipur's Senapati district on Wednesday, June 10 evening after two trucks were reportedly set ablaze at Karong, hours after the recovery of six bodies in the area.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 7:20 pm when a container truck and a six-wheeler truck caught fire while parked at a dumping site in Karong. The vehicles had reportedly arrived from Imphal at approximately 2:30 pm and were stationed at the site when the blaze broke out.
Both trucks were said to be empty at the time of the incident. Upon receiving information about the fire, personnel from the Senapati Fire Service rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. The blaze was subsequently brought under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.
Sources said the drivers of both vehicles are currently untraceable, and efforts are underway to ascertain their whereabouts.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the incident, and further details are awaited.
The burning of the vehicles has added to the tense atmosphere in the district following the recovery of six bodies earlier in the day. Security agencies are closely monitoring the situation as investigations continue.
