‘When every Manipuri is happy, Manipur will be happy’: MLA Nishikanta lauds CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh

Amid continued efforts to restore normalcy in conflict-hit Manipur, MLA Sapam Nishikanta on Thursday, February 19, lauded Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh for what he described as “sincere and determined efforts” to bring lasting peace and stability to the state.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a benefit distribution programme at the Alternative Housing Complex in Langol, Nishikanta said the Chief Minister’s approach to addressing the Manipur crisis has been commendable. He noted that the CM has consistently underscored the importance of unity among the 36 communities residing in the state and their collective responsibility to protect and safeguard Manipur’s integrity.

Responding to reports and discussions surrounding the proposed Cabinet meeting in Senapati district, the MLA dismissed any controversy over the venue. “Senapati is also a part of Manipur. Why shouldn’t a Cabinet meeting be held there?” he said, asserting that governance must reach every corner of the state.

He further clarified that ministers travelling to attend the Cabinet meeting in Senapati would pass through Kangpokpi, reiterating that administrative processes should not be hindered by speculation or misinformation.

Emphasising the broader message of reconciliation, Nishikanta said the path to peace lies in collective harmony. “When every Manipuri is happy, Manipur will be happy,” he remarked, calling for unity and mutual trust among all communities
