Guwahati, December 27, 2018:

Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma slammed the ruling NPP led MDA govt and said, "Both NPP and BJP are part of government in Meghalaya, NPP is part of NDA at centre, if govt of India can send out help of Indian pumps to Thailand why not take up this rescue operation on priority."

Sangma made the statement after the authorities in East Jaintia Hills district on Monday temporarily suspended operations to rescue 15 miners trapped in a 370-foot-deep illegal coal mine in Ksan area of Lumthari village since December 13.

The exercise will resume only after more powerful pumps are made available to district authorities.

Confirming the report, SP Sylvester said,  "Operation is still on, only pumping of water is remained suspended waiting for better pumps."

Meanwhile,  the entire Nation has awake after Congress president Rahul Gandhi has slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having his pictures taken while inaugurating the Bogibeel railroad bridge in Assam instead of helping the 15 miners trapped in a 370-foot-deep illegal coal mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district.

Zenith Sangma has pointed out that number of times opposition congress has tried to bring to the notice of government but filed to do so.

"We had raised this issue of illegal mining in assembly but Chief Minister and got was adamant not to accept," Sangma said.

"We saw how the anti mining activist were brutally attacked?" Sangma said adding, "Only after this incident CM has Accepted that illegal minginwas happening."

In a tweet, Gandhi said, “15 miners have been struggling for air in a flooded coal mine for two weeks. Meanwhile, PM struts about on Bogibeel Bridge posing for cameras. His government refuses to organise high pressure pumps for the rescue. PM please save the miners.”
