After the killing of NCP candidate Jonathone N Sangma, the proscribed Garo National Liberation Army(GNLA) has warned the people of Meghalaya to vote against Congress and Mukul. In a Facebook post, one Gongbin Marak has warned the people of Songsak to refrain themselves from voting for Mukul. It also stated that Mukul shall extinguish fire and the people of Songsak should never play with fire as it burn into ashes. Gongbin also warned that if Mukul is elected from Songsak than there shall be 356 days total bandh at Songsak. It is also stated in the post that some Congress workers are in the hit list. Though the post did not clearly state Meghalaya Mukul Sangma’s name but it could be assumed that Mukul is in fact Mukul Sangma as there is only one Mukul in Meghalaya politics and Mukul Sangma is contesting from Songsak constituency. According to sources, Gongbin Marak is none other than GNLA commander-in-chief Sohan D Shira.

It has also come to light that the escorts accompanying Jonathone N Sangma were surrendered GNLA militants who were also in the hit list of the banned militant organization. Both were eventually killed alongwith Jonathane in yesterday’s incident.
