Man sentenced for raping minor

Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 06, 2018:

A court sentenced a man to three years of imprisonment recently for sexually assaulting a minor girl in the Meghalaya Capital three years ago.

Victor Rynjah was found guilty by the Court of Special Judge, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Shillong.

According to the police, Victor sexually assaulted the minor girl at her residence at Malki Wahkdait on 1^st August 2015. Following the incident, a case was filed by the girl’s family at Laitumkhrah Police Station under Section 354 of Indian Penal Code.

After the investigation was complete, the police filed a charge-sheet against him under Sections 7 and 8 of the POSCO Act.

The court had on 2^nd August sentenced him to three years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000.
