Meghalaya: Bus Carrying BSF Jawans Falls into Gorge; 1 Dead on the Spot

Shillong, October 30, 2019:

A civilisn died on the spot and many others, including 20 jawans, were seriously injured after a requisitioned bus went offroad and fell in a 100-feet deep gorge at Umtyraa in East Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya.

According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday at around 4.30 pm.

The injured personnel have been shifted to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, for treatment.

Incharge SP of EJH, Lakador Syiem said, "We are thankful to the doctors and staff of Khliehriat CHC for their prompt treatment of the injured and also to the government and NGOs’ ambulances, Dorbar Shnongs and Cement companies for their assistance."
