New Delhi, July 17, 2019:

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has been a man on a mission in recent times as he has taken many concerns of the State to Union Ministers in New Delhi.

Recently, the National People's Party (NPP) leader met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday to apprise him of the "flood situation" in the state. Meghalaya, like most of the Northeastern states, has been hit by incessant downpours as a result of which, flooding and landslides have become quite commonplace. Even the iconic 'living root bridge' at Mawlynnong was seen to be submerged under flood waters at some point.

Sangma informed about his meeting with the top BJP leader via social media platform Twitter. He wrote: "Met Hon’ble Home Minister

In Meghalaya, rising waters of the Brahmaputra and the Jinjiram rivers have life thrown out of gear for 1.14 lakh people across 164 villages.

Meanwhile, the low-lying areas of the state's capital city Shillong were also flooded due to incessant rains.
