Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma confirms Rajnath Singh to meet all Northeast CMs today

Guwahati, February 11, 2019:

It has been confirmed by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the Chief Ministers of the Northeast will be meeting Home Minister Rajnath Singh at 4:30 pm today.

“He (Rajnath Singh) has called all Northeast Chief Ministers at 4:30 pm and I will be present at the meeting”, confirmed Sangma.

The Meghalaya CM, who has been camped out in Delhi along with senior party leaders of the NPP as well as AGP, further reiterated his stand against the Bill. “We have always stressed on the fact that this is Bill that we cannot support”, he said and also added that the leaders are not there “to play politics” as the protests against the Bill have been joined by student bodies as well as civil societies.

Sangma also had a word of praise for the people of the Northeast region who have raised their voices against the controversial Bill. “It has united the people of the Northeast together as one voice to oppose the Bill”, he stated.

Ason Gana Parishad President Atul Bora, who is also camped out in the national capital Delhi, reiterated the party’s intention to aid in the scrapping of the Bill and confirmed that the party will continue to fight against it.“These next 2-3 days are crucial to us”, stated Bora, while addressing the media.

It is to be mentioned that Conrad Sangma had earlier called a meeting of 11 parties in the Northeast to oppose the Bill and have resolved to take their concerns regarding the Bill to the highest-ups in Delhi (including the Prime Minister and President).
