Meghalaya CM Inspects Oxygen Plant Installation at Nongpoh Civil Hospital

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday took stock of the installation of the 150 LPM (Litres Per Minute) Oxygen Plant at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

Nongpoh, May 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday took stock of the installation of the 150 LPM (Litres Per Minute) Oxygen Plant at Nongpoh Civil Hospital.

The Plant, expected to be functional by next week, shall provide high flow oxygen to 25 beds, that will also cater to the oxygen needs of Covid-infected patients.

Apart from these plants, the UNDP funded oxygen plants are also being setup in other two important towns of Tura and Jowai.

Expressing his satisfaction at the overall progress of work, Sangma informed that the installation would be completed in the coming week.

'We've received the equipments. Installation works are ongoing. We still need to do the internal piping of the buildings so that will take a bit of time. We hope and expect that this plant will be made functional early next week', said the CM.

During his visit, the Chief Minister also had discussions with the officials regarding setting up of another Covid base at the Maternity and Child Hospital, at Umran Niangbyrnai.

"We are in touch with the TATA Trusts. They have committed to set up the oxygen plant at the MCH", he informed.

The Chief Minster also said that ramping up of health infrastructure is going on at a war footing.

"As cases continue to rise in the State, we need to be prepared for any eventuality and of couse Ri-Bhoi district being one of the entry points in the State is very vulnerable" the Chief Minister added.
